There's Something About Snow
What is it about the phrase “wintry mix” that triggers a Pavlovian response to shop for milk, bread and toilet paper? When that first salt truck hits the road, some of us go a step further. We pull out the roasting pan, the stock pot and the slow cooker to get down for some real comfort food.
Is it our imagination, or is there something about snow that just makes us hungrier than usual? When you get those “snow cravings,” the place to head is Eddie’s butcher shop. This is the go-to place where our “Men of Steel,” as we like to call them, will custom-cut your meats. Ask Steve or Rex to trim a brisket or chuck roast for your grandmother’s pot roast recipe, or select beef bones for your beef vegetable soup, or freshly ground sirloin for your famous chili.
Today, the snow may be melted and the roads may be dry, which is why now is the time to prepare for the next big “wintry mix.” Try our recipe for Mexican Chili with Chocolate or The Perfect Brisket. Keep them handy in your freezer, so you can easily heat them when you need some comfort to get through the ice and snow.
