Responsibilities and Qualifications: Assistant Bakery Manager

Eddie’s Bakery department is home to hundreds of baked-in-house sweets, locally made treats, and high-quality breads, breakfast items, and baked goods. As a member of our Bakery staff, your dependable, can-do work ethic and friendly, customer-focused manner will help the department succeed in selling product, delivering top-notch service, and keeping up with demand.

This is a key position in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on customer satisfaction. Renowned for its superior selection and exceptional service, Eddie’s of Roland Park is an independent, family-owned grocery destination that has served the greater Baltimore community for more than 75 years.

The Assistant Bakery Manager reports to the Bakery Manager and serves as the Bakery Manager’s second in command. In that role the Assistant Bakery Manager will assist in training the staff, writing the weekly schedule, ensuring that the shelves are stocked and rotated, searching for ways to improve the customers’ shopping experience, ensuring that all product is stocked in a safe, clean and orderly condition, assist in resolving personnel issues and more.

 

Responsibilities (assists the Bakery Manager in the following):
 
  •      •  Provide exemplary customer service as currently defined by the Company within the scope of the position and within Employee Handbook.
         •  Answer and quickly resolve customer's concerns and inquiries.
         •  Coordinate sales promotion activities and prepare, or direct workers preparing merchandise displays.
         •  Ensure compliance of employees with established retail policies and procedures, security, sales, and record keeping procedures and practices.
         •  Handle employee dissatisfactions and grievances in conjunction with Human Resources.
         •  May assist and/or work in other departments of the store.
         •  Plan and prepare work schedules and assign employees to specific duties.
         •  Serves as a back-up baker when needed
         •  Supervise employees engaged in sales work, taking of inventories.
         •  Assist in maintaining responsible inventory levels and appropriate sales margin.
         •  Manage safety plans and merchandising plans.
         •  Assist in maintaining clean and safe work environment.
         •  Replace stock in display areas as needed.
         •  May be responsible for counting out-of-stock product.
         •  Oversee the opening and/or closing the store upon request.
         •  Look for industry trends to secure interesting and attractive product mix.
         •  Adhere to federal and local laws, and to all Company policies and procedures.
         •  Perform various paperwork including, schedule writing, employee evaluation, corrective action plans, job postings and product recalls.
         •  Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:
 
  •      •  Assists the Bakery Manager in the supervision of day to day personnel functions within the Bakery Department.

 

Qualifications:
  •      •  High school diploma or equivalent.
         •  Must possess fresh food handling experience.
         •  Must possess prior professional bakery experience,
         •  Solid knowledge of retail sales and safe food handling guidelines.
         •  Possesses proven leadership ability to build, motivate and maintain staff, while possessing a working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
         •  Proven experience creating and sustaining positive customer relationships.
         •  Dependable, reliable, and able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
         •  Results-oriented professional with excellent customer service skills.
         •  Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
         •  Proven experience working as a team player in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines.
         •  Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
         •  Able to interpret, understand and follow instructions.
         •  Able to maintain and stick to a schedule and show up on time.
         •  Must have a helpful, courteous approach to resolving customer concerns.
         •  Must have strong customer service skills.
         •  Basic computer skills for vendor digital ordering systems
         •  Must possess Have strong organization and planning skills; able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
         •  Must be able to work a 50 hour per week schedule.
         •  Prior experience as a key holder is highly desired
