Don't Sweat the Holidays

As the saying goes, "Don't sweat the small stuff." Well, you don't have to sweat the holidays, either. You aren't alone if you get stressed out by just thinking about all you have to do for holiday entertaining. Remember, it's not just planning for Thanksgiving, Chanukah or Christmas dinner. It's planning for breakfast, lunch and dinner if you have out-of-town guests for the weekend. Our new Holiday Guide will give you menu planning tips, food and wine pairings, recipes and menu suggestions using prepared foods from our kitchens, plus easy serving ideas that don't involve extra cooking.

You can always count on our kitchen and bakery to provide a huge selection of traditional holiday fare, but our grocery aisles contain a host of hidden treasures to make your entertaining life a whole lot easier. Our shelves are full of items that you can stock your pantry with to prepare for drop-in guests during the holidays. Always have a good pasta in the pantry, along with a great sauce. Rao's Fusilli and their new Homemade Artichoke Sauce are perfect to keep on hand for that impromptu dinner.

Pickles are in, and not just your regular dill pickle. Sable & Rosenfeld Tipsy Tapas Cheese-Stuffed Sweet Peppers and Hot Peppers, along with stuffed olives and tapenades, are great to keep in your pantry. When guests stop by, put these out with Busseto Dry Salami, Maille Whole Grain Dijon Mustard, a few packages of interesting crackers, and a bag of Oolala Black Truffle Potato Chips and everybody is happy.

Don't forget about "gourmet staples" for your fridge that can be found in our seafood and cheese departments. You'd be surprised how long these "perishables" can actually stay in your refrigerator. Ducktrap River Smoked Salmon and Smoked Trout Pate will easily last three weeks to a month in your refrigerator, as well as Fruits de Mer Marinated Seafood. Alexian Pate de Campagne and Duck Liver Mousse with Cognac will also last about a month; these can turn your basic charcuterie board into an extraordinary one! Be sure to always check the dates on the products to ensure that you will be serving the item within that date.

Now you can ease into the holidays with your tools from Eddie's. Our caterers can walk you through your holiday with a delicious menu, our friendly and knowledgeable staff and our efficient delivery drivers are more than willing to help, so you can sit back and enjoy the festivities of the season.
